Linsanity

Jeremy Lin, guard for the NBA’s NY Knicks, is all over the news ... and that translates into some huge numbers beyond points scored in a game.

$139-Million
– the increase in the Knicks’ market value since 2/4/12.

500,000+ - the number of people following Lin on Twitter

66% - the increase in Knicks' season TV viewer average vs. last year

8,500 – the number of Lin related videos on YouTube

200% - the increase in sales of all Knicks merchandise (including apparel) on the NBA official website vs. the same time last year.

#1 – the ranking of Lin’s jersey sales on NBAStore.com since 2/4/12.

$4,800 – the price on EBay for Lin’s middle school yearbook

$613,000 – the amount of Lin’s salary this season

$2.7 Million – the maximum amount the Knick’s can offer Lin next season

Jeremy Lin of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) New York Knicks has grabbed headlines by unexpectedly leading a winning streak for his team this month. His global following, known as "Linsanity", is fueled by his story that is not typical of an NBA player: playing college for Harvard University (not known as a breeding ground for professional baskeball players), being an Asian American (1st player in the league to be of Chinese or Taiwanese descent), not being drafted out of college by the NBA.
