Albert Einstein, Comedian

When we think of theoretical physicist Albert Einstein (March 14, 1879 - April 18, 1955), we think “genius” not “comedy”. But Einstein was a great example that a strong sense of humor is an integral part of the intelligent creative mind.

Beyond the Theory of Relativity (E = mc²), the theoretical physicist’s fecund mind often wandered towards the comedic. For example, when his wife asked him to change clothes to meet the German Ambassador, Einstein replied: "They want to see me, here I am. If they want to see my clothes, open my closet and show them my suits."
According to The New Yorker (April 1939),  In the period before, Einstein was so well known in pre- World War II America that he would be stopped on the street by people wanting him to explain "that theory". He finally figured out a way to handle the incessant inquiries. He told his inquirers "Pardon me, sorry! Always I am mistaken for Professor Einstein.”
Perhaps this statement by Einstein sums up the Nobel Prize winner’s comic view: "I am content in my later years. I have kept my good humor and take neither myself nor the next person seriously."
Here are some other amusing quotes from one of the greatest minds of the 20th century:

"The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits."

"The hardest thing in the world to understand is the income tax."

"Once you can accept the universe as matter expanding into nothing that is something, wearing stripes with plaid comes easy."

"Put your hand on a hot stove for a minute, and it seems like an hour. Sit with a pretty girl for an hour, and it seems like a minute. THAT'S relativity."

"The most aggravating thing about the younger generation is that I no longer belong to it."

"If A equals success, then the formula is: A = X + Y + Z, X is work. Y is play. Z is keep your mouth shut."

"With fame, I become more and more stupid, which of course is a very common phenomenon."

"Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school."

"Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love."

"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."
